If you didn't realize, Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey centers around aliens making contact twice:
Thankfully, Kubrick rejected the idea of actually showing the aliens that were being developed for the film, which allowed for the ambiguity and eventual masterpiece. You can read more about it here.
Though, I do have to say, these make for an exciting discovery:
Interestingly, the graphic black and white, pattern on pattern, reminded me of Stephanie Syjuco's "Cargo Cults: Cover-up" from MoMA's Being: New Photography 2018.
